My focus is on marine and architecture studies from Southern Maine and Tennessee. I use a lot of color, structure and perspective.
I was a mechanical engineering student at Vanderbilt University more than fifty years ago when a drafting class awoke my passion for drawing. Detailing sketches of wheels, gears and machinery revealed a natural technical aptitude. Upon retiring in 1998, I began to pursue my interest in painting in earnest. Most of my paintings are oil on canvas detailed from my own photographs. I also enjoy painting in plein air as well.
Since I began painting I have participated in many exhibits and have had exclusive showings in a number of local businesses. I have been a juried selection for exhibits in York, Maine, and several times for the Tennessee Art League’s Central South Exhibit. My Korean War series is now in the art collection of the Pratt Museum, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.
I hold memberships in: The Tennessee Art League, The York Art Association, York, Maine, and The Hendersonville Art Council, Hendersonville, TN.
